Buy skate shoes & sneakers at Stoked.
At Stoked Boardshop you can choose from different styles of shoes. As a true skate shop, we always have the newest skate shoes, but you will also find stylish sneakers, athletic shoes and even slippers. Need questions or tips? Feel free to let us know via the Chat Support or by email. We are happy to explain in advance why skate shoes are the better option for skating and what to look out for when purchasing them.
Why choose skate shoes?
Basically, you can skate with regular athletic shoes or sneakers, but a good pair of skate shoes has numerous advantages. Skate shoes are special developed for skateboarding and therefore offer more comfort, firmness and support for your feet and ankles than ordinary athletic shoes.
Skate shoes are often reinforced in strategic places to combat abrasive grip tape wear as well as to better cushion impacts. This is manufactured by a extra padding in the tongue and the sides of the shoe, double or triple stitching, a rubber toe-cap and extra cushioning sole technologies. That is why many non-skaters buy skate models. Just because they are so good and look super cool, of course.
In short, skate shoes are made to withstand a lot of skate violence and protect your feet from impact and injuries.
Important properties for skate shoes
Most skateboard tricks are performed with the feet, which is why a good pair of shoes is crucial though. Good skate shoes are distinguished from other sneakers and athletic shoes by some important features:
- Flexibility For good flicks and free movements
- Good board feel
- Sufficient damping of impact
- Grip To not slide away from your board or while pushing
- Durability and abrasion resistance
- Support and stability for your feet and ankles
Skate shoes are for everyone
You spot skate shoes not only at the skate park, but far beyond. In the world of sneakers and shoe addicts, skate shoes have claimed their place. Not only do they look great, they offer incredible comfort and are tremendously durable. Whether you're a die-hard skater or a fashion guru, we've got you covered with some stylish shoes! Top brands such as Vans shoes, Emerica, Etnies, és and Adidas skateboarding can always be found here in all your desired colors.
What are vulc and cupsoles and what is the difference?
The biggest difference is the way they are made. Cup soles consist of one fixed part, and the upper shoe is glued and stitched into the sole. No heat is used to fabricate the shoe. So you recognize cupsoles by the U-shaped sole and the seams in the sole that attach them to the upper shoe.
Vulc or vulcanized shoe soles usually consist of two parts. The sole is connected to the upper shoe by a rubber layer around the sole and the upper shoe. This is also called shoe foxing . Then the parts are joined together fused together in a special furnace. At vulcanized shoes there is heat is used during the manufacturing process.
Advantages and disadvantages of cup & vulc
Cupsoles often have a thicker sole and are often slightly stiffer. As a result, they take a little longer to run in and you have less board feel on your skateboard. They are more durable and more suitable for impact to cushion at large and high gaps. Vulcanized shoes usually have a thinner sole which makes them slightly more flexible and more boardfeel give. They are a little less suitable for high impact pickup, though.
Find the right size
Depending on where the shoes are made, different sizes are assigned. To avoid confusion, we have compiled all sizes into a nice size chart and arranged them by foot length. If you know your foot length, you can see at a glance which shoe size you need. You will find this size chart next to each shoe.
Maintaining shoes - Shoe Care
New shoes are best kept as long as possible. That is why we also have Shoe care products to keep them looking peaky. We have everything you need to keep your shoes clean and better protect against all weather conditions.
Also skaters can change their shoes last longer by using shoe repair. Extend the life of your shoes by at least a month and keep skating without ollie holes!
