Santa Cruz was founded by Richard Novak, Doug Haut and Jay Shuirman. For over 40 years, they've been designing skateboards, longboards, cruisers, clothing and accessories. Their logo is perhaps the most famous in all of skateboard culture: the screaming blue hand, drawn by Jim Phillips Sr. in 1973. Many big names in skate history have pushed the boundaries of skating and especially street skating with a Santa Cruz skateboard under their feet. Natas Kaupas performed the very first boardslide on a handrail during a contest in Oceanside, California at the end of the 80s. Along with that other living legend, Mark " The Gonz " Gonzales, he also landed the first 50-50's. Thus, a Santa Cruz deck skateboarding made history.
